Accommodation 2022/23

We are delighted to have moved into our new modular buildings on our permanent site on the Oldcourt Road at the foot of the mountains. Having our own school building and facilities is hugely exciting for our community as we grow and develop as a new school in Firhouse. Huge thanks to the Department of Education for working tirelessly to ensure that our accommodation was ready to welcome our students this year.

We would like to acknowledge the kindness and understanding of Firhouse Community College for hosting us last year and wish their community all the very best for the coming academic year.

Accommodation 2021/22

This academic year, we will be based in temporary accommodation on the grounds of Firhouse Community College. This accommodation consists of general use classrooms, an art room, a science laboratory, a technology room, a home economics room, collaboratory space, offices and a team room. While here, the Department of Education will continue with their efforts to get temporary accommodation down on our permanent site.

Permanent Site

We have exciting news about our permanent site! In May 2020, the Department announced the acquisition of a 4.45 acre site for our school on the Oldcourt Road. The design school building project has been referred for delivery under the Department’s Design and Build Programme and architectural planning has commenced with a view to being ready for September 2022.

Our Accommodation So Far

We were welcomed by Firhouse Educate Together National School since we opened in August 2018 until we moved out in June 2021. Collette and her team have been so welcoming and generous from the start. In August 2019 we were also welcomed by Gaelscoil na Giúise and used some of their bright and inviting classrooms. We thank Cuán and the Board of Management for agreeing to help us by providing this much needed space when we needed it the most.

In the summer of 2020, our school community came together to resist plans by the Department of Education to move our school to Citywest for a period. Below you will find some of the documentation from that campaign period. We are grateful to our students, families, team and wider community for making sure this move outside of the catchment area did not happen.

Accommodation 2020/21 | Statement from the Board of Management of Firhouse ETSS | June 2020

At a special meeting of the Board of Management on 9th June 2020, arising from a communication from the Department of Education and Skills in relation to accommodation for the school for this coming September, the BOM decided to reject the proposal from the Department to relocate to Citywest. The BOM, with the support and direction of Educate Together National Office, had been working on progressing temporary accommodation on a site on Stocking Avenue for the coming academic year. With the acquisition of the permanent site, the Department has decided not to progress the temporary site on Stocking Avenue. The BOM and the school community are deeply concerned about its accommodation needs for September. Citywest is not a viable option with it being so far outside of the catchment area. This would be utterly devastating for the vibrant, creative and caring school community in Firhouse ETSS. Please read the infographic below that gives further detail of the challenges that our school has faced to date with our accommodation.

The BOM wishes to thank the students, their families and the staff team, for their commitment and support as we work together with the Department of Education and Skills to come to a workable accommodation solution for our school.

Accommodation 2020/21 | Statement from the Board of Management of Firhouse ETSS | 31st July 2020

We are delighted to share the news that we are remaining on the Firhouse Educate Together National School / Gaelscoil na Giúise shared campus for the coming academic year and will not be relocating to Citywest. The Department of Education and Skills, in consultation with an Foras Pátrúnachta, has arrived at this most welcome workable solution for our accommodation for which we are very grateful.

We are extremely thankful to Gaelscoil na Giúise for their generosity in agreeing to allow us to remain in their building. We thank Firhouse ETNS for their steadfast support of our school.

A special thank you to all of our parents/guardians, students, team and Board of Management for their unwavering patience and support. Our community will continue to grow and thrive ❤️

We look forward to planning being progressed on our permanent site on the Old Court Road as soon as possible so that our school community has a permanent home.
