Admission for Incoming 1st Year Students 2026/27

We are delighted with your interest in our school for your child. Thank you for your time in reading carefully the necessary documentation below in considering our school for your child. For further information about our school and our relational learning environment, the website will help you to familiarise yourself with our culture and the way we do things in our school community. All information regarding our curriculum, approach to teaching and learning, student supports and extra-curricular activities can be found on our website.

In considering our school, please be aware that we are committed to being an Educate Together Secondary School, to our caring and restorative culture with high standards and expectations in student engagement and accountability, and in teaching and learning as facilitated by our amazing team of teachers and student support assistants. As a new and developing school we have been fortunate to establish our creative school culture and to have fully embraced junior cycle reform as reflected in the national curriculum available on www.curriculumonline.ie. Consequently, assessment and reporting will look different to what we have all experienced heretofore in an Irish context and is much more supportive of student wellbeing and achievement. It is helpful for you to note that we have a blended approach to learning using iPads and creative resources. As such, there are no textbooks at junior cycle and students are treated to highly professional bespoke learning experiences rooted in the learning outcomes of the national curriculum. This summer we celebrated our second cohort of students to complete six years in our school and we are very proud of the young active citizens that they have become and of how well they achieved in the Leaving Certificate.

As you know, deciding on a school for your child/ren is an extremely important decision. It is essential that you do your research and consider if Firhouse ETSS is the right school for you and your child/ren. We are excited for you to become part of our school community and expect high engagement from our parent/guardian community in working with us in support of our young people. Once the admission process has been completed, we will arrange a parent/guardian information evening with all confirmed incoming 1st Year students.

Admission Transfer Students for 2nd, 3rd, TY, 5th and 6th Year 2026/27

**Please note that admission emails should only be sent after 1st May 2026 as this opens the transfer window. Any emails sent before this date will not be added to the waitlist. We do not take mid-year transfers.**

Step 1

If you are inquiring about a transfer place for a student for the 2026/27 academic year, please email admission@firhouseetss.ie directly with the following information: your name, your child's name, the year group that you are looking for in mainstream, and reason for transfer. Once we receive this email, your child will be included on the waitlist. There is no need to further contact the school at this point.

Step 2

The school will do an audit on what school places, if any, will be available for the next academic year. If any place becomes available, the waitlist will be checked. Should you be contacted after this point, we will ask you to fill in a form and a meeting will be arranged between you, your child and the school principal.
Step 3 After this meeting with the school principal, the transfer requests are then considered by the Board of Management. The decision of the Board of Management will be communicated to parents/guardians soon after.

Please note that once you have emailed admission@firhousetss.ie after 1st May 2026, you will be immediately placed on the waitlist. Due to the high numbers of transfer inquiries, we will only contact you should a place become available and you are next on the waitlist.
