Student Progress Meetings

26-October-22

Each academic year, a student progress meeting will be held for each year group. This allows us a chance to meet and talk about how the learning is going for students and how they are getting on generally. We ask that students come to these meetings to be a part of the conversation. Dates for the 2024/2025 school year are to be found in the table below.

FAQ - Student Progress Meetings

When will the Transition Year Student Progress Meetings be taking place?

In-person Student Progress Meetings for Transition Year students will take place from 4:15pm to 6:45pm on Wednesday, 11th December 2024 and each individual teacher slot will be maximum 5 minutes. To ensure that there is efficiency to the meetings and to be mindful of people’s time, we schedule the meetings in advance, using our scheduling software.

What will the Student Progress Meetings be like?

The Student Progress Meeting is a chance for you to meet with the teachers where you can reflect on and discuss the learning students have engaged with in that subject since the start of the academic year. To reflect our open school culture, we ask that students are part of these conversations and come along that evening. It is a super opportunity for the students to take ownership of their learning and talk about their progress in the various subjects. We ask that students join their parent(s)/guardian(s) for the meeting.

When is the deadline to submit the preferences for meetings?

The deadline to schedule appointments is 12pm, on Friday 6th December 2024.

This deadline is final as timetables will need to be issued to parents/guardians and team members as soon as possible so everyone involved can plan ahead. If you are having issues with the technology, it is important that you contact the office so we can help before the deadline expires to have your preferences submitted.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your preferences have submitted successfully on the PTMORG website. Should any parents wish to have separate schedules entirely, please contact the office in advance of the above deadline to make us aware so we can facilitate this as best we can. Please understand that the office will not be in a position to timetable appointments after this deadline has expired owing to the complexity of the software we use. No exceptions can be made to this as we are working with large year groups and spaces are tight.

How do I submit preferences for teachers I wish to meet?

Submitting preferences for the meetings is simple and to help you out, we have broken it down into 6 easy steps:

Step 1 We use an online scheduler to schedule the evening. The website we are using for this is: https://ptmorg.com.
Step 2 Click ‘Parent/Guardian Login’.
Step 3 Put in the School Roll Number. For Firhouse ETSS this is 68307J.
Step 4 Put in the VSware ID associated with your child. The unique VSware ID for your child can be found within VSware under ‘Personal Info > School’ (this is true for both the desktop version https://firhouseetss.vsware.ie and school app version of VSware).
Step 5 When you enter these details, it will bring you to a page where you will see only the teachers your child has. You will need to rank these from the highest number to the lowest (1 being the highest, and so on). Remember, the rank in which you put the subjects is important as a meeting with each teacher is not guaranteed due to high volumes of students and limited time on the evening. For Transition Year, please number your top 8 or 9 subjects as there is not enough room on the timetable for everyone to meet with each teacher due to the high volume of subjects.
Step 6 When you have the preferences done correctly, you must submit these into the system by clicking ‘I Will Attend This Meeting’ in the bottom right hand corner. This step is key to secure the preferences and it is your responsibility to check that this has gone through.

When will I know my timetable for the evening?

When the timetables are generated by the office, we will send you a VS-Mail letting you know your unique timetable is ready. You will be able to see this timetable by repeating steps 1-4 from the steps above.
