5th and 6th Year Overview
Firhouse ETSS is proud to offer both Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) and Leaving Certificate Established (LCE).
Below you can see the presentation we used on the 29th of February 2024 to help guide parents / guardians and students when choosing which programme to take.
The following LCA timeline will apply first for any students who gave a preference for Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA)
Students who opt for Leaving Certificate Established (LCE) - Timeline 2025
Step 1 - Optional Subjects Overview
Monday 3rd March 2025 (LCE Students Only)
|
- Students get the opportunity to hear various presentations on all the various Leaving Certificate subjects by the teachers.
|
Step 2 - Optional Subjects Initial Ranking
Tuesday 4th March 2025 (LCE Students Only)
|
- LCE students will be asked their preferences of 14 different subjects. This is to whittle down 14 optional subjects (that the school could provide) to 9 optional subjects (that the school will provide). As a small school, we are pushing to provide 9.
- This will be done in school using the data we get from surveying the students who have chosen LCE.
|
Step 3 - Announcements of Option Subjects for 2025
Monday 10th March 2025 (LCE Students Only)
|
- Students are informed what the final subjects (estimated to be 9 optional subjects) we can offer as a school are, based on the preferences from within the year group.
- Now that we are down to the final 9 optional subjects, we ask you to preference these again, now from 1-8 (1 being the most preferred, and 8 being the least preferred). This is so that we can figure out what subjects go against each other on the same line, and therefore, timetabled at the same time.
- This will be done via VSware and the options section will be live from 10th March. To find this in VSware, click 'Options' when you click on your child's profile.
|
Step 4 - Deadline on VSware to Submit Final Subject Preferences
Friday 14th March 2025 (LCE Students Only)
|
- Deadline to submit the final 1-9 preferences on VSware is 14th March.
|
Please note that should a student wish to sit an additional or alternative subject, this is subject to the Protocol on Additional or Alternative Subjects as agreed by the Board of Management.
