Before the election, three of our local candidates for Dublin Southwest visited us in Firhouse Educate Together Secondary School, and spoke to our Tradition Year and 5th-6th year students.
On the invitation of our colleague, Paul Hart, Teresa Costello (Fianna Fáil), Ross O’Mullane (Social Democrats) and Alan Edge (Independent) visited the school on Wednesday, Nov. 20. After providing a personal history and account of their own political platforms, the candidates answered questions from the students, including those prepared by the Fifth Year and TY Politics & Society students.
The students were encouraged to register to vote now so they are on the voting roll when they turn 18 and did a great job asking some challenging questions to the candidates. We are grateful that the candidates took the time during their busy campaign to engage with our students.
