We recommend that as parents/guardians you take some time to check out Webwise. As we know, using technology has huge risks for young people and the more information we have, the better position we are in to safeguard against such risks. Webwise has a vast range of supports for parents/guardians as we are all learning all of the time with the speed with which new websites and apps appear.
7. Research Documents Guiding our Remote Learning Plan
We have come a long way since our first remote learning period in 2020 and so far we have noticed much more student engagement. Check & Connect happens each morning from 08:15-08:25 and sets the student up positively for a structured morning routine. This year, students are following their timetables and are expected to be either linking into a live lesson, or getting activity and task work done that has been assigned by the teacher. In mid-January, all students were surveyed about their experiences with remote learning, which gave us a great understanding of approaches that work for the students in our school. Teachers are using a combination of live lessons, OneNote activity work and projects to make sure that learning is as engaging as possible during this time (details of which you can find above in the 'Individual Year Groups - Weekly Timetables' section).
Some of the research documents that guide our approach to remote learning are:
