One Good School

Jigsaw's Initiative
27-January-20

Jigsaw’s One Good School™ is a comprehensive initiative which supports the mental health and wellbeing of young people by developing a shared responsibility for mental health across the whole school community. As part of our efforts to support our students and our parents with young people's mental health, we are engaging in the process of becoming a “One Good School “with Jigsaw.

Supports for parents and carers of young people:

We invite any community members who care for our young people to take part in two online courses at your convenience. The first course is an Introduction to Self-Care for Parents. This short 40 minute online course covers ways to develop a self-care plan for parents and guardians of primary and secondary school students. It has some very useful videos and practical tips for looking after your own wellbeing. The second course is a Mental Health Awareness Course for Parents. This 30 minute course will help you identify ways to support youth mental health. It also highlights how we can all be ‘One Good Adult’ for the young people in our lives.

Finally, we can offer support to run these online courses for any parent/guardian who has difficulty accessing technology on Thursday 2nd April at 8.25am. We welcome anyone who has already completed the course to pop in after 9.20am that same morning to share feedback from the course.

Supports for Team

Our staff will take part in a training course on Managing Anxiety in the Classroom and they will also be invited to participate in an online training course.

Supports for Students

Our students will participate in a workshop, delivered by Jigsaw called “It’s time to start talking”.
